NORWALK - The Norwalk Land Trust says it is working with other organizations to bring back a family of ospreys to South Norwalk.

Group member Louise Flax says an osprey nest caught fire about a month ago, killing a baby chick. Some sticks from the nest dangled down and touched electrical wires, causing the fire and forcing the remaining birds to leave.

Eversouce Energy on Monday installed a new utility pole that features no external electrical wires and a platform on top.

The Norwalk Land Trust, Connecticut Audubon Society and the Harborview neighborhood hope the birds return. Flax says the ospreys have been nesting in the area for two years and have already overcome one fire and returned.
