NORWALK - A Norwalk man was arraigned today on burglary charges after police say he illegally entered a Westport home and then tried to escape in a taxi.

The man, Milton Namcela, entered a not guilty plea and the judge set his bond at $5,000.

Westport police say a homeowner was on his patio when he noticed a man inside his house around 1 a.m. Sunday morning. Police say the homeowner then confronted the man, and he fled from the house.

Lt. Vincent Penna says officers set up a perimeter and caught Namcela when he tried to leave the neighborhood by calling a cab.

Namcela is to return to court next month.
