NORWALK - A Norwalk man is facing several charges after police say he attacked his elderly mother and tried to choke her.

Oliver Thomas Hayes, 25, went before a judge yesterday on strangulation and assault charges.

Police say the fight broke out after he asked his mother for money for Methadone and she refused.

They say he then began choking her until she would give him the money.

Then when she tried to use her lifeline button to call 911, police say he picked her up and threw her to the ground.

Police say the woman was not seriously hurt.
