NORWALK - Organizers were forced Saturday to cancel the Norwalk Oyster Festival for the day because of the threat posed by Tropical Storm Hanna.

Organizers hope that the event, originally planned for three days, can go on as originally planned Sunday. This is the first time in nine years that the festival was closed down for the day because of weather. While organizers expect it to hurt the fundraising efforts of the Norwalk Seaport Association, safety is the main concern.

Some vendors say that attendance Friday was higher than usual and many of them are hoping that they can make up the difference in revenue with another large crowd Sunday.
