Norwalk PD: Abduction report a prank

NORWALK - Norwalk Police say what appeared to be the report of a missing child yesterday was nothing but a prank call.

They say it all started yesterday afternoon when they got a call from a 12-year-old boy who lives on North Taylor Avenue--reporting that he'd heard someone yelling for their mother and saw a red truck drive away.

Just minutes later, they say state police in Bridgeport got a call from someone saying that a young girl was being held hostage.

Police say they later determined that was nothing more than a prank call from an 8-year-old boy and were not able to find any evidence of any missing children in Norwalk.

Norwalk Police say that state police continue to look into the prank call from their end.

No word on whether anyone will face any charges for what happened.
