NORWALK - Police in Norwalk are warning residents about a string of recent burglaries in the city.
They say the suspects, who normally target older couples, are working as a team. The first suspect distracts the homeowner by offering to do repair work or asking questions about their backyard to take them away from their front yard.
“At that point, the person makes a phone call to another person, speaking another language, and it's believed the secondary suspect arrives at that point, goes into the unlocked door and steals cash or jewelry,” says Det. Ryan Evarts.
They say the suspects are of Eastern European descent, possibly Albanian, between 40 and 50 years old, with a beard or goatee.
Officials say to call police if anyone tries the distraction-based tactics.
