Norwalk police find 11 cats, homeless woman in van

NORWALK - Norwalk police say a woman is undergoing psychiatric evaluation at Norwalk Hospital this evening after she was found living in the back of a van with 11 stray cats.

Police say they made the discovery yesterday on 30 Rowan St. at around 1:30 p.m. and they saw fleas, roaches and bedbugs.

Officials say 66-year-old Kathleen Kennedy was homeless and had been living out of the van for several months.

As for the cats, police say they had no water or food and possibly less than a week to live. They say that 10 of the cats were put to sleep.

Kennedy has been charged with 11 counts of animal cruelty.
