NORWALK - Norwalk residents say they are frustrated that a sinkhole on their street has not yet been fixed by city officials.

Residents on Lockwood Lane say that city officials have not yet fixed the sinkhole that has been there for a month, despite their complaints.

However, officials from the Department of Public Works say they are taking care of the issue.

They say the problem may have been caused several years ago after a water main break and drainage construction weakened the road surface.

"It probably disrupted the groundwater and probably diverted it somewhere. So, it created a void in the pavement and the pavement started to settle," says Bruce Chiemento, of the Department of Public Works.

Officials say the road will most likely be repaved by next week.
