NORWALK - A number of residents made their way to the Norwalk Public Library Friday to escape the sizzling temperatures.

One mother told News 12 she stopped by the library with her 5-month-old daughter just to get some relief from the oppressive heat. She says her daughter is too young to wear sunscreen, so she was trying to find indoor activities.

Other parents choose places like the supermarket to enjoy the air-conditioned aisles with their children.

Cooling centers have been opened as an alternative to heading to libraries, supermarkets or other stores.
