NORWALK - Police say a Norwalk teen who survived being shot in two separate incidents last year has died in jail.

Officials say Shaquan Welfare, 17, was found dead in his cell at the juvenile detention center in Chesire.

Welfare survived two shootings, one outside the Enigma Cafe on Van Zant Street and the other near the intersection of Sheridan Street and Woodward Avenue.

Officials say the cause of death is still being investigated but foul play is not suspected.
