Norwalk teen saves life of fellow student

NORWALK - A 16-year-old high school student in Norwalk is being hailed as a hero after helping another student that was choking.

Israel Navarro says he performed the Heimlich maneuver on his friend, Ronnie Horton, who was choking on a piece of chicken bone in the lunchroom yesterday afternoon at Brien McMahon High School.

Navarro says he learned the life-saving maneuver as the commanding officer of the school's Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp.

Horton says he owes his friend a free dinner for saving his life, but he says they will stay away from chicken.
