WASHINGTON, D.C. - As the nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, a Norwalk woman who was there is looking back on her experience.

Anita Schmidt, former president of the Norwalk chapter of the NAACP, says she was there 50 years ago, went back for the 25th anniversay and returned for the 50th anniversary last weekend.

While the March on Washington is regarded as a turning point in the fight for civil rights, Schmidt says that was not the case in days and months after it took place.

Schmidt says 50 years has changed the world a lot, but the march must continue. She says the importance of educating children and informing them of their history is the key to their future.
