STAMFORD - A New York man has been charged for allegedly running a housing scam in Stamford.

Police say Gajesh Sewnarain posed as an employee of the Stamford Housing Authority to collect fake fees from residents applying for section 8 housing.

Sewnarain allegedly netted nearly $3,000 in fees.

Officials say Sewnarain disappeared before officers could make an arrest, but police arrested him in Florida on Monday.
