NORWALK - Secretary of the State Denise Merrill says that voter turnout across Connecticut appeared to be low this Primary Day, despite 21 communities holding elections.

Voters in Norwalk headed to Marvin Elementary School where officials say Republican Charlie Yost was elected tax commissioner in the Third District.

Stratford residents also headed to the polls, electing Democratic incumbent Jason Santi in the 4th Town Council District. Republicans in the 5th District also re-elected John Dempsey, while Republican-endorsed candidate Craig Budnick claimed victory in the 7th District.

In Bridgeport, the city's Democratic primary between Mayor Bill Finch and Mary-Jane Foster has been pushed back until Sept. 27 due to an ongoing legal battle.

Foster announced today that she has filed paperwork to create a legal defense fund and will demand that the Democratic Registrar of Voters appoint moderators at the city's 23 polling places.

As News 12 Connecticut has reported, Bridgeport ran out of ballots during the November election last year.
