NORWALK - Norwalk officials have approved a plan that will allow the Norwalk Inn to expand.

The city's planning and zoning board approved the proposal last night to renovate the historic home at 93 East Ave. and add a third floor to the building.

Representatives from the Norwalk Inn say the first stages of construction could begin in a few weeks.

The board also approved the restoration and utilization of the historic Grumman Street John House, which was purchased by the Norwalk Inn back in 2001. The owners say they hope to convert it into seven extended-stay rooms with kitchens that will be used as temporary housing by 2012.
