BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport officials say the much-touted arrival of Bass Pro Shops might not take place for another year.

The outdoor recreation chain was scheduled to be opened this Christmas as a part of the Steel Point Redevelopment Project on East Main Street.

Officials say it might not open until 2015.

“They're dealing with some issues in the state, some permits,” said Councilwoman Lydia Martinez, when asked about what is causing the delay. She says that she is hopeful that the store will become the first tenant of the redevelopment project when their permitting issues are resolved.

Some Bridgeport residents say they were disappointed with the delay as many were expecting an influx of jobs in the area.

Bass Pro Shops did not respond to a request to comment on this report.
