PARK CITY - As the deadline to turn in U.S. Census forms nears, federal officials say almost half of all Bridgeport residents haven't returned their forms.

The U.S. Census Bureau says Bridgeport has a return rate of 52 percent, which is "significantly lower" than the statewide average of 69 percent.

Census official Sherri Wood says people who haven't returned their forms by the April 17 deadline will get a visit from a census worker who will ask them the same 10 questions on the form.

Wood says Census information determines things like location of bus stations, the availability of health care for people who cannot afford private health insurance and the quality of community schools.
