BRIDGEPORT - Officials in Bridgeport assured residents Tuesday that safety conditions will be improved at the apartment building where a fire broke out killing a mother and her children last week.
Dozens of residents spoke out in anger at a meeting Monday night about the lack of sprinklers and fire escapes at the P.T. Barnum Housing Complex. The director of the housing authority says the unit is in compliance with the fire codes.
The director says he will first educate residents on fire prevention and training as well as look into structural changes.
