WESTPORT - Town leaders in Westport said today that crews will likely finish most Sandy repairs at Compo Beach in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Crews still need to push back and even out thousands of yards of excess sand washed ashore during the storm, dig parts of the boardwalk and build a temporary reinforcement along a wall knocked down by wind.

The town says it will cover the cost of beach repair and send what it has spent to FEMA in the hope of getting a reimbursement.
