NORTH HAVEN - A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today for the unveiling of the first of Connecticut's 23 highway rest stops to undergo renovations.

The rest stop is located on the southbound side of the Wilbur Cross Parkway near exit 63.

Private businessmen have invested nearly $200 million into the state's rest stops, saying the renovations have all been done with the customer in mind. Renovations include easier driving routes, more parking and a larger variety of food selections. Gas pumps have also been relocated, giving cars more time to slow down upon arriving.

Developers say it should take between three to five years for all 23 to be renovated.
