WASHINGTON - Police in Washington, D.C. say the reported shooting at the Navy Yard this morning was a false alarm.

Investigators say they swept the building where gunfire was reported, but found no evidence of a shooting.

The campus in southeast Washington had been placed on lockdown and was eventually evacuated while police investigated.

In 2013, a military contractor killed 12 workers at that location before he was shot and killed by police.
