NORWALK - Law enforcement in southwestern Connecticut has stepped up patrols to crack down on drunken boaters as part of a national campaign known as Operation Dry Water.

Marine police from Norwalk have been pulling over boaters more often than usual, checking to make sure everyone is obeying the law and not drinking and driving.

They also say drinking out on the water with the sun and heat will make a person more dehydrated and often more intoxicated.

News 12 is told hundreds of boats were out on the water Saturday, and according to police, everyone has been obeying the law.
