MILFORD - Opponents of a proposed domestic violence shelter in Milford have essentially gotten what they wanted by circulating the shelter's address on social media.
Some residents living in the Village Road area are grateful the shelter will not open because they felt it had no place in a residential neighborhood. They didn't want a commercially zoned building in their area.
Opponents of the shelter circulated a petition on Facebook and Twitter making the address of the shelter public.
The head of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence says everyone involved is disappointed that the confidentiality of the safehouse was revealed.
Officials say they are looking for an alternate site and will take special steps to keep its location secret.
