WESTPORT - Many people marked Saturday?s five-year anniversary of the 2004 tsunami that killed more than 250,000 people in Asia.

Westport-based Save the Children was among the organizations that helped raise money with bake sales and donations.

"We've helped over a million children and their families in about a thousand villages," says former Save the Children disaster specialist Emily Elder.

Funds raised by organizations all over the world since 2004 were used to build new homes, schools and hospitals throughout Asia.
