Overturned tanker closes I-95 for hours

BRIDGEPORT - Exit 27A off the I-95 was closed for several hours on Sunday morning after a tanker truck failed to negotiate the sharp turn.

Police say that speed played a factor in the accident that spilled hundreds of gallons of treated sewage, also known as "grey water," onto the exit ramp onto the Route 8 extension.

According to Bridgeport Fire Department Assistant Chief John Currivan, the driver of the truck was rescued and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The spill was cleaned off the ramp and authorities say people in the neighborhood were not in danger.
