NORWALK - The Norwalk Fire Department honored John Phelps, of Pennsylvania, today for his role in saving a drowning girl over Memorial Day weekend.

Phelps, 81, is credited with rescuing a 3-year-old girl who fell face first into a pool at a family gathering. He proceeded to perform CPR on the child, saving her life.

Phelps drove in from Pennsylvania to accept the honor.
