BRIDGEPORT - The parents of a Bridgeport man who was gunned down earlier this month spoke publicly for the first time since the fateful shooting.
Family members say Chris Pettway, 26, was trying to shield a group of schoolchildren near Trumbull and Reservoir avenues back on Sept. 10 when he was struck by a bullet. They are commending the city's police department for arresting a suspect so quickly, but add that there will always be a void left by Pettway's absence.
"I'm never going to be able to hold him," says the victim's mother, Jackie Pettway."I'm never going to be able to touch him again."

Relatives are planning an anti-violence meeting in Pettway's memory on Saturday, Oct. 19.
