Parents take advantage of tax-free back-to-school shopping

WESTFIELD - Parents all over southwestern Connecticut today were taking advantage of some tax-free back-to-school shopping.

With the start of school next week, there are deep discounts being offered at stores all over the state, including no tax on clothing and shoe purchases under $300.

Shoppers saved the state sales tax of 6.35 percent, plus the local sales tax.

Tax-free week runs until stores close next Saturday night.
