RIDGEFIELD - A Ridgefield man appeared in court Tuesday after police say he violated a protection order from his wife and then fled with the couple's son.
According to an affidavit, Paul Lupo's wife came home Sunday to find him drunk. He allegedly became verbally abusive and twisted her arm during an altercation.
After she left the house to get the police, Lupo took their 5-year-old son, prompting authorities to issue an Amber Alert. The child was later found in the Bronx. Lupo now faces charges of disorderly conduct, violating a protection order and interfering with an emergency call.

He has also been charged with violating a child restraint system since he did not have a child seat in the car he used to take his son.
Lupo is now free on $5,000 bond. The court also issued a new protection order preventing him from having any contact with his wife or son throughout the remainder of the proceedings.
