STAMFORD - Stamford has a new mayor this Election Day after Mayor Dan Malloy decided not to seek re-election.

Republican Mike Pavia defeated Democrat David Martin with 55 percent of the votes. Pavia owns a real estate managing and construction business in Stamford. He has also served as the city's Public Works commissioner, a police commissioner and on the Board of Representatives.

This was the first time in 14 years the mayoral race in Stamford didn't involve an incumbent after Malloy decided not to seek re-election.
