STAMFORD - Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia is marking his first 100 days in office.

Pavia says the city's financial situation turned out to be much more challenging than he anticipated. He recently released a budget proposal that included 49 layoffs, a decision he labeled the hardest he's had to make so far.

Pavia also cited well water contamination problems in Scofieldtown as another major item he's had to deal with.
