Penfield Beach Pavilion reopens following restoration

FAIRFIELD - After two years of planning and construction, the town of Fairfield officially reopened its new Penfield Beach Pavilion today.

The old pavilion was torn down last year after the Board of Selectmen determined it was unsafe.  The city borrowed more than $3 million for the project.

The new beach attractions include a banquet space, which will be available for rent year round, new bathrooms and a new concession stand.

Officials say non-Fairfield residents can buy a parking pass for $15 on a weekday and $25 on a weekend day, but they say the concession stand may not be open in time for this weekend.
