A group of people were protesting today outside the Bridgeport courthouse to bring attention to the case of a local woman who allegedly beat her

BRIDGEPORT - A group of people were protesting today outside the Bridgeport courthouse to bring attention to the case of a local woman who allegedly beat her puppy to death and buried it in her backyard.

Rommy Rodriguez was arrested in November.

The activists say they do not want this to ever happen to any other animal.

Police say a veterinarian examined the poodle and found it died from blunt-force trauma.

Rodriguez is charged with animal cruelty.
