WESTPORT - Westport police are expanding their search for two pit bulls apparently roaming the streets in town.

Authorities say the dogs were first spotted yesterday afternoon near a child care center on Hillspoint Road. They say children and adults sought shelter in their cars until officers arrived on the scene. No one was hurt and the dogs eventually ran away, but officials say the public needs to remain vigilant.

Local police officials have joined forces with the state's Animal Control Division and neighboring police departments to find the dogs.

Anyone who sees the dogs should call Westport police at 203-341-6000
