NEWTOWN - The architectural firm hired to design a new Sandy Hook Elementary School is showing off some of its designs.

New Haven-based Svigals and Partners presented the designs to Newtown officials yesterday.

The firm says its main goal is to make the school feel safe for students.

Every classroom will have natural light and will share tree house-like spaces.

The firm also says the parking lot will be situated far from classrooms.

The old Sandy Hook school was torn down following the deadly shootings in 2012.
