STAMFORD - Police are awaiting autopsy results on a fetus found Saturday at the Wastewater Treatment Facility in Stamford.
The worker who found it says he was raking through waste by-products when he found something small, pink and about four inches long.
Police are trying to locate the mother and say they would like to see how she is doing before they consider pursuing it as a criminal matter.
Authorities say the fetus was probably between 14 and 15 weeks along. It would have been unable to survive on its own and was likely the result of a miscarriage. Police say they believe the fetus ended up at the plant because it was flushed down the toilet.
