FAIRFIELD - The disappearance of numerous bikes in Fairfield over the past month has prompted an investigation by police.

Police say someone took off with yet another bicycle Sunday, bringing the total number of bikes stolen this week alone to nine. The theft was reported at 11 a.m.

This month, police say over $10,000 worth of bicycles have been stolen.

Police say two bicycles were stolen at Fairfield Metro Train Station and one on the side of a home. They were able to identify a suspect on surveillance footage from the train station, but they cannot link him to all of the thefts.

Authorities are urging bike owners to purchase locks if they plan on leaving them in public spaces.

Bicycle shop owners tell News 12 that locks can start at $25. They say some people spend up to $200 on their locks.
