BRIDGEPORT - A Bridgeport family is grieving after their loved one drowned at Fountain Lake in Ansonia yesterday.

The body of 20-year-old George “Tito” Ortiz was identified this morning by his father, Eddie. Ortiz was discovered in 15 feet of water after he had been swimming with his friends.

According to relatives, Ortiz was a beloved member of not only his family, but of the Bridgeport community. Ortiz was also an animal lover and gifted bass guitar player who was known for his resilience.

The medical examiner is expecting to release his findings sometime this week.

Edgar Rodriguez, of El Luz de Paz Funeral Home, says that they are taking donations for Ortiz’s burial fund, something the family says they desperately need.
