NEW CANAAN - New Canaan police announced tonight that they believe they have identified the driver of the vehicle in the hit-and-run accident that killed an 84-year-old man yesterday.

Authorities say the vehicle believed to be involved in the crash at 1777 Oenoke Ridge Rd. is a 2008 Infiniti SUV that was operated by a 32-year-old New Canaan woman.

Police have identified the victim as Jaramin Chrishna. His son says Chrishna was getting his mail when he was struck.

Another driver spotted Chrishna lying on the side of the road.

Meanwhile, the Chrishnas are hoping to work with local lawmakers to get speed bumps or cameras installed on Oenoke Ridge Road.

Police have not released the identity of the driver at this time, but have impounded the vehicle and plan to examine it for forensic evidence.
