Police: Driver in fatal Stamford crash arrested

STAMFORD - Police say they arrested a driver involved in a fatal Stamford crash last week.

According to authorities, 41-year-old Giovanni Cucullo, of Yonkers, N.Y. was drunk when he crashed his BMW sedan into a tree near the corner of High Ridge and Cedar Wood roads Jan. 28, killing 27-year-old MaryAnn Loprete, of Stamford.

Police arrested him after he was released from Stamford Hospital Sunday.

Cucullo was released on $100,000 bail. He is due in court Feb. 16.
