MILFORD - State police say one person is dead and four others were injured after a crash on I-95 near exit 34 in Milford.

The accident happened Saturday on the southbound side of the Moses Wheeler Bridge, just past Exit 34 around 10:30 p.m.

Authorities say 39-year-old Emmanuel Felix had to stop his SUV in the far-right southbound lane of the bridge due to a flat tire. When he attempted to exit his car, he was struck by a vehicle and fell more than 100 feet over a guardrail into the Houstanic River.

Firefighters say when they pulled him out of one foot of water, Felix had no pulse and severe injuries. They pronounced him dead after CPR had failed to restart his heart.

Authorities say four other people were also hurt in the collision and rushed to Bridgeport Hospital.

No charges have been filed. Police say they are investigating the incident.
