MILFORD - Police on Tuesday identified the man found dead inside a burning car in Milford last week as 71-year-old Richard Weir.

As News 12 has reported, Weir was sitting in his parked car on top of wooden planks behind the Connecticut Audubon Society on Friday when it suddenly caught fire.

Police say finding the cause of death may help them determine why Weir did not exit the burning vehicle.

The state medical examiner says it will take six to eight weeks to determine the cause of death.
