NORWALK - State police were at Veterans Memorial Park Friday to inspect all the rides for the 37th annual Norwalk Oyster Festival this weekend.
Last year, a Zumur swing ride suddenly stopped, sending riders crashing into each other. News 12 reported that 12 children and one adult went to the hospital with minor injuries.
Stewart Amusement Company operated the ride for last year's festival and will again be operating rides at this year's festival. The Monroe-based company says crews did maintain the ride and it had been inspected by the state. A spokesperson from the company says the Zumur swing ride will not be at this year's event.
Officials say more than 45,000 people are expected to attend the festivities this weekend, which include live music and food.
