WESTON - Weston police are investigating about a dozen high school students for allegedly taking and distributing nude pictures of themselves.

Police say the students shared the illicit photos using the app Snapchat.

Although the app allows users to send pictures that vanish after a few seconds, officials say there are other apps out there that allow recipients to save the photos.

Authorities say they could not comment about this investigation, but tell News 12 that sending nude pictures could be deemed as distributing child pornography.

Police say they are more concerned about educating in this case as opposed to prosecuting.
