GREENWICH - Police across southwestern Connecticut are stepping up patrols this week as part of a national Click It or Ticket campaign.

One Norwalk officer says he issued about six tickets in 15 minutes today to drivers not wearing seat belts. Police set up a checkpoint in Greenwich to snag drivers without seat belts on East Putnam Avenue.

Police in Westport say rather than a checkpoint, they have officers on the lookout in unmarked cars.

In addition, officers are keeping their eyes peeled for drivers talking or texting on cell phones.
