Police make arrest in July sexual assault case

STAMFORD - Police arrested Richard Rivas Arredondo today, on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in July while she was walking to work on South Pacific and Market streets.

Arredondo, 25, may not have been caught if it wasn?t for the quick thinking of the victim who last week recognized her attacker driving through her neighborhood and jotted down his license plate number.

Police used the information provided by the victim to locate Arredondo and arrest him.

Arredondo is being held on a $250,000 bond and is expected to face a judge again sometime next month.
