Police: Man arrested after kidnapping wife

NEW LONDON - Police say a Connecticut man who abducted his estranged wife at gunpoint Sunday is behind bars.

According to authorities, 33-year-old Percy Lobaton climbed into his wife's minivan armed with a gun and attempted to leave the state. He drove more than 80 miles down I-95 before police were able to catch up to him and arrest him, officers say.

Police say Lobaton took a brief detour at a Milford rest stop, where his wife freed herself, ran to the bathroom and told two women she needed help. The witnesses alerted police, who were able to track down Lobaton's location, authorities say.
