Police: Man brutally beaten, robbed in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT - A Bridgeport family is distraught and searching for answers after a 62-year-old man was robbed and brutally beaten.

Bridgeport police say they initially didn't know who the victim was until family members called authorities and found out what happened to him. Family members say Paul Souksavath had left their home without a wallet on Friday night when he left to visit a nearby friend.

Detectives say the Ogden Avenue attack on Souksavath was so severe that he is still unconscious at Bridgeport Hospital. Bridgeport police say they're hoping Souksavath will be able to give them some details about what happened if he's able to recover.
