BRIDGEPORT - Fairfield police say a man drowned after being involved in a fight early Saturday morning.

Officials say the brawl began inside the popular Chubby's Pub restaurant on Fairfield Avenue in Black Rock.

Police say the incident began when tempers flared between a pair of customers who began brawling inside the business. The fight ended up in the creek behind it.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they say they pulled a man's body out of the water. Police say that the other man involved in the fight took off.

Investigators say there were no weapons involved in the fight, and the victim apparently drowned. They are calling it an isolated incident.

Fairfield police say they were called to the scene to help Bridgeport police because the business sits right on the line between Fairfield and Bridgeport.
