DANBURY - Connecticut State Police say a man is in custody after leading troopers on a high-speed car chase between Danbury and the New York state line.

The suspect was arrested after allegedly assaulting a state trooper during a traffic stop.

Police say the suspect managed to break free and led them on a chase through Connecticut and New York before heading back into Connecticut.

They say the suspect crashed near exit 3 of I-84 and took off again.

The suspect's identity has not yet been released. He was taken to Danbury Hospital for evaluation.
